Nothing lasts forever, and such is the case with Crossroads Connection, a site primarily serving the Crossroads Bible College in Indianapolis, Indiana. Even though it may be gone(?), the people and ministries that it connected with are still going strong.
After Neil Cox invited me to participate, I casually set up my profile on the site (a Drupal site!), and poked around a bit. I let my account sit idle for months for many reasons that aren't impressive or convincing, and I decided to return for a visit to check things out. It looked as though the content had gone a bit stagnant, so I posted a blog entry asking if someone was still listening. In fact, I had recently been contemplating sharing my thoughts in greater detail, but I wanted to be sure that they would not be wasted when nobody was there to listen. Well, my post didn't receive any feedback, and then today, my attempt to connect to the site resulted in a generalized domain not found default search. Well, I'm not sure how much I missed, but I guess it's probably too late to find out now.
Among the jewels I discovered on the site were TechMission.org and a coordinated schedule of conference calls held with Christian city-reaching leadership from many cities.
If you check out their site, their stated values are "Jesus, Justice, and Technology." Their motto is "Transforming Communities through Innovation." That's exciting to me, especially as I think back to what started my journey down the XAG road, a road that leads people to use technology to build the kingdom of God.
They're definitely on my radar, and I think they ought to be on yours too.
